Chesnee, SC 29323

History: The VSP Club of Senior Centers of Spartanburg County grew out of a need to provide for senior adults living in and around the rural community of Chesnee, South Carolina. The name for the center, Very Special People, originated at Chesnee First Baptist Church, where Mrs. Virginia H. Cash led a group of dedicated seniors for many years. The VSP Foundation was begun by her son, Terry, after her death as a tribute to her and as a catalyst for providing services to seniors throughout the county. The center was designed and built with seniors and the community in mind, and opened for business in February 2003 with approximately 50 members. It's growing by leaps and bounds. Most of the activities and programs are led by volunteers at the VSP Club.
